It’s the seventh night of Channukah, and we have friends coming over. Alane will make her version of her Dad’s famous latkes, and we have the multi kulti vegetarian chilli from a Moosewood Cookbook. It is a more unusual feeling than most years, when this time is connected to the wider holiday ChrisChanKwanzamasnukkah, and maybe it should feel more significant, because it isn’t connected to the Holidays, but it feels out of time–hence this photo. Also Eli is in AZ, so that takes something away–we miss him and are proud of him. I like the candles, even when they are burning in the other room, and you just glance them s you go by.
